RI-TE

Description

What? RI-TE is developing new low-cost preclinical PET systems “with applications in molecular imaging research, education and training.”

What, exactly? Positron emission tomography is an imaging technique used in research, preclinical examinations and clinical treatments. It requires injecting the body with a positron-emitting isotope, which then goes in the targetted area in the body and allows to measure changes in the metabolic processes. While the technology is mature, set-up and running costs are (still) high, making it a luxury medical tool.
